Author Spotlight: Stephanie Webb Dillon | CJC Photography

Author Spotlight: Stephanie Webb Dillon

CJC: How did you get started as an author and what made you want to pursue that field?

SD: I loved writing when I was young, and I have always been an avid reader. I figured that I had so many stories in my head I could surely do this.

CJC: What do you find to be the most rewarding and challenging part of being an author and what hurdles have you overcome while striving towards your goals?

SD: I love when someone enjoys my books, most challenging has been figuring out the publishing side. I have recently started using Atticus to help with formatting. It is very user friendly.

CJC: Which novel has been your favorite to write and why?

SD: I would say “Daddy’s Second Chance” that was just released. The story was special to me, I love the idea of a person getting a second chance at love. Can’t give too much away. After all, I want you to read it.

CJC: For first time readers of your work, which book would you recommend?

SD: Since it is a series, I would say start with the first book ‘Baked with Love’ and work your way through the series.

CJC: If one of your books were made into a movie, which would you select and who would you like to star in it?

SD: Baked with Love, Henry Cavill and Emily Blunt.

CJC: For those looking to become an author, what advice would you give them?

SD: Believe in yourself and give it a try.

CJC: If you could co-write a book with any author, who would it be and why?

SD: Right now I would say Laylah Roberts. I have absolutely loved her DDlg series.

 CJC: Favorite motto?

SD: Those who mind don’t matter and those who matter never mind.

CJC: What do you do to overcome writer’s block?

SD: I step away for a bit and then come back and start reading my manuscript from the beginning.

CJC: In one word, how would you describe your writing style?

SD: Spicy.

CJC: Which do you find harder to do… writing the blurb for your story or selecting the cover?

SD: Writing the blurb, I tend to see a cover and my story starts to unfold in my head. That’s how I pick my covers.

CJC: Do you have authors who inspire you? And if so, who and why?

SD: Yes, I wouldn’t know where to begin, I loved Laurell K Hamilton, Christine Feehan, Lucky Moon I just love that they write what they want and that the stories are compelling and make you want to go through their entire series.

CJC: What is your writing process like?

SD: I see photos and sometimes I feel connected immediately and a character name will pop in my head. That gets me taking a few notes to get started and then I just sit down and start writing. Many times, I have a title almost from the beginning, sometimes it changes.

CJC: What new projects are you currently working on and what are your goals for the remainder of the year?

SD: I am finishing up my Freedom Colorado Series. There are a total of eight books in it. I have finished seven of them and I am currently writing number 8. I have two other series that I want to start on. One is a spin off from book 5 of the first series and will be MC related. The second will be a cowboy series based around one ranch.

CJC: Any final thoughts you would like to share with the CJC Photography readers?

SD: I have been blessed to be introduced by word of mouth or rather messenger to so many wonderful photographers, models and other authors as well as cover artists, readers etc. I feel like I have been welcomed into the Indie family of writers and all the support is a blessing.

CJC: “Daddy’s Second Chance” is now available!
