Author Spotlight: Angera Allen

CJC: How did you get started as an author and what made you want to pursue that field?
AA: I was married to a DJ and there weren’t any books really about the underground music scene, so I just started writing and the characters just kept coming.
CJC: What do you find to be the most rewarding and challenging part of being an author and what hurdles have you overcome while striving towards your goals?
AA: I love meeting my readers and hearing what they think of the characters. Especially, when I throw in twists, shocking them. My biggest hurdle is promotion and advertising. I’m a single mom with a full-time job. I don’t have a lot of extra time. I need to hire someone.
CJC: Which novel has been your favorite to write and why?
AA: Hmmm… that is a hard one. All my characters have a part of me in them, but I would say Firecracker is my go-to for introducing my two series.
CJC: For first time readers of your work, which book would you recommend?
AA: Firecracker is a short read and has most of the characters of both my series in it.
CJC: If one of your books were made into a movie, which would you select and who would you like to star in it?
AA: My Spin It Series, for sure. I’m in the process of pitching it to Netflix.
CJC: For those looking to become an author, what advice would you give them?
AA: Take your time. Don’t rush publishing until you’re ready.
CJC: If you could co-write a book with any author, who would it be and why?
AA: Chelle Bliss, I just love her.
CJC: Favorite motto?
AA: Music, mayhem, and motorcycles.
CJC: What do you do to overcome writer’s block?
AA: Call my girlfriends, who are also my beta readers.
CJC: In one word, how would you describe your writing style?
AA: Suspense.
CJC: Which do you find harder to do… writing the blurb for your story or selecting the cover?
AA: Writing the blurb.
CJC: Do you have authors who inspire you? And if so, who and why?
AA: Chelle Bliss- for her bikers, and Amo Jones for her dark reads.
CJC: What is your writing process like?
AA: Sit on my couch and binge write.
CJC: What new projects are you currently working on and what are your goals for the remainder of the year?
AA: I’m working on Book 3 in my Wolfeman Series and setting up two new series to release next year.
CJC: Any final thoughts you would like to share with the CJC Photography readers?
AA: Thank you for thinking of me and for the beautiful shot of Felicia!
