CJC: How did you get started as an author and what made you want to pursue that field?

LB: I’ve been writing since 8th grade, but it took meeting and becoming good friends with Anne Tyler over a decade ago that made me consider writing for real. One pen name and 70+ titles later, I’m finally finding my groove and making a living doing what I love.

CJC: What do you find to be the most rewarding and challenging part of being an author and what hurdles have you overcome while striving towards your goals?

LB: Seeing some money in the bank is a huge reward for me since I’ve been a stay-at-home for thirteen years. Being able to contribute hard earned cash for bills makes me feel like a million bucks. My biggest challenge is having to be social. I’d prefer to stay holed up in my house without the internet, just reading and writing. But I need that presence, so…

CJC: Which novel has been your favorite to write and why?

LB: Hmm. I have a couple, but I’ll go with Unholy Craving which was my first MM romance. The religious background for the story mirrors my own life in a lot of ways, but since growing up and becoming my own adult, I’ve come to believe that love is love, and that people shouldn’t be condemned or looked down upon for who they ARE.

CJC: For first time readers of your work, which book would you recommend?

LB: That’s a hard one because I write all over the place. From MC Romance, to MMF menage, dragon shifters, taboo/dark romance, gay romance…I guess it all depends on what you’re in the mood for!

CJC: If one of your books were made into a movie, which would you select and who would you like to star in it?

LB: I would LOVE to see Wilderness come to live on the big screen!! That entire series, actually, would make an excellent mini series. I don’t have any idea who I’d want to be my Brock, though. He just has to be a grizzled, burly mountain man who goes a little…animalistic after being off grid for so long.

CJC: For those looking to become an author, what advice would you give them?

LB: READ and READ and READ. Know what you love, what you want to write, then buckle down and write your ass off. Then learn all you can about self-publishing because it’s definitely the way to go.

CJC: If you could co-write a book with any author, who would it be and why?

LB: OMFG what a question! Gah. Um…okay I’d have to say K Webster for something on the darker side and probably Jay Hogan for some steamy MM deliciousness.

CJC: Favorite motto?

LB: Fail to plan, plan to fail.

CJC: What do you do to overcome writer’s block?

LB: Just sit down and choose to write. Once I get going, the ball usually starts to roll for me.

CJC: In one word, how would you describe your writing style?

LB: To the point. Not flowery or purple, and I definitely like to get to the meat of the story and emotions without too much fluff.

CJC: Which do you find harder to do… writing the blurb for your story or selecting the cover?

LB: Covers are easy if you have awesome photographers and cover design artists in your back pocket…which I do. 😉

CJC: Which author inspires you the most and why?

LB: K Webster because like me, she writes ALL over the place and it just works for her. #Goals

CJC: What is your writing process like?

LB: Sit and type like mad anytime the three spawn allow. Seriously, though, I’m a prolific writer and can pump out the words at a quick pace. It’s just a matter of choosing to sit and DO IT on a daily basis. Life tends to get in the way…you know, cleaning, cooking, gardening, CrossFit…

CJC: What new projects are you currently working on and what are your goals for 2022?

LB: I’ve got one more Sinful Natures to write, a short spin-off for my newsletter subs, another short piece for TNTNYC22’s Cuffed antho, then it’s on to my planned Missing Link series that will be all MMF.

CJC: Unholy Yearning is now available to purchase here!
