CJC: How did you get started as an author and what made you want to pursue that field?

RD: I’ve loved reading forever, but I actually have a grandfather that I never met who wrote tons of poetry and a grandmother that was always reading something, so I think it’s kind of in my genes, lol.

CJC: What do you find to be the most rewarding and challenging part of being an author and what hurdles have you overcome while striving towards your goals?

RD: Well, this is my first series in this genre, so right now the biggest challenge is getting my name out there and hoping that people like what I write. The rewarding part is the fact that I have found some people that are really supportive.

CJC: Which novel has been your favorite to write and why?

RD: My first one is coming out December 14, 2021, but I am looking forward to so many parts of this series. I already have several plots in mind and I think it’s going to be fun and rewarding to write Inspirational Fiction. Hopefully, people find something they can relate to and something that inspires them to help others or to find help for themselves.

CJC: For first time readers of your work, which book would you recommend?

RD: Road to Redemption is my first one. So that’s the only choice right now, lol. But I’m really looking forward to many more coming up.

CJC: If one of your books were made into a movie, which would you select and who would you like to star in it?

RD: Well, Kevin Davis-model is going to be the model on every cover in the series, so I think he should get the role.

CJC: For those looking to become an author, what advice would you give them?

RD: Don’t let your own fear get in the way of at least trying. If it’s in your heart, sit down and see what happens, you might surprise yourself.

CJC: If you could co-write a book with any author, who would it be and why?

RD: I don’t really know anyone else who writes this genre, but I love to read romance, so I think I’d pick one of my favorite romance authors. Lexi Blake would definitely be one of my top picks, I love her writing.

CJC: Favorite motto?

RD: Bloom where you’re planted.

CJC: What do you do to overcome writer’s block?

RD: I read. I love to read anyway and sometimes I even find things that spark an idea of something similar that can happen in my book.

CJC: In one word, how would you describe your writing style?

RD: frustrating, LOL. I find that a new story comes to my mind, and I really want to get started on it, but I have to finish the one I’m on first.

CJC: Which do you find harder to do… writing the blurb for your story or selecting the cover?

RD: I pay someone to write my blurbs. Covers are easy at least for my current series, because it’s based on one man’s journey around the country and it’s inspired by a man who is a cover model, so that choice was easy.

CJC: Which author inspires you the most and why?

RD: I’d say Lexi Blake. I have seen her fight a publishing company to get rights back. I have seen her encourage other authors and support them in so many ways.

CJC: What is your writing process like?

RD: I’m not a morning person, so I get started about ten in the morning and work until about three. I take a break to give my eyes time away from the screen and make dinner, and then I get back to it for a couple of hours after dinner.

CJC: What new projects are you currently working on and what are your goals for the remainder of the year?

RD: Well, this year is almost over, and my focus is on getting my first book out and into people’s hands, and then get started on the next one that’s already rattling around in my head.

CJC: Any final thoughts you would like to share with the CJC Photography readers?

RD: This is a series about a man who helps people wherever he finds himself. I hope we all learn to be better at paying things forward and leaving no room for hate in our lives.

Thank you Riley for featuring Kevin and I on this project.
