CJC: How did you get your start in modeling?
KD: Golden Czermak of FuriousFotog hit me up on social media a little over 2.5 years ago and asked me to do a photo shoot. It all started from that shoot.
CJC: Who/what do you draw inspiration from during a photo shoot?
KD: Its according to what the shoot is. If I’m portraying something in particular, I try to channel that energy.
If I am shooting with someone else, I just try to make sure that I am engaging with that person, and hopefully have good chemistry, because people really can pick up on that chemistry.
CJC: What do you enjoy the most about modeling and what do you find to be the most challenging?
KD: I really enjoy getting to portray different people or characters and then to have authors let me represent their book character, is just so cool.
I think the most challenging part is not getting in my head and stressing so much about comparing myself to other models and realizing that what makes me different is what might actually make me succeed.
CJC: In one word how would you describe yourself?
KD: Lately I would have to say the word that most describes me is transparent. At least that is how I have really tried to live my life the past few years.
It has helped keep me accountable, but it allows me to hopefully help others who might be dealing with exactly what I have been dealing with.
CJC: If you could have any costar for a photo shoot, who would it be and why?
KD: There are a lot of cover models that I would love to eventually work with. I’ve gotten really lucky with the two couples shoots that I’ve done.
If it could be absolutely anyone, I would say Henry Cavill, and I don’t think I even need to explain why! 😂
CJC: Where would you like to travel to in the future?
KD: I’ve always wanted to visit Australia and New Zealand.
CJC: Do you have any interesting or unique talents?
KD: I would say that I’m pretty boring in that department, although I am getting pretty good and enjoying the promotion/marketing side of things. I think that has contributed to a lot of my success in the business.
CJC: This industry can be harsh, how do you deal with criticism?
KD: I’ve gotten to where I really try to not read too many comments on Instagram. I don’t think it is very healthy to read the one’s telling you how amazing you are, or the negative ones.
CJC: What is something most people don’t know about you?
KD: I do share my recovery story, but a lot of people still don’t know that as part of my recovery from drug addiction, I have remained celibate for the past 3.5 years.
CJC: To date, what accomplishment are you most proud of?
KD: I am most proud that I took my life back 3.5 years ago. I had gone through many years of chronic pain and surgeries and ended up with an addiction. I ended up a meth addict and eventually hit rock bottom.
My life now is beyond better than anything I could have ever imagined.
I now use my platform to share my story, so that I can hopefully help others who are living in addiction or have loved ones who are.
CJC: What are your goals for the remainder of the year?
KD: I have had a busy year getting to shoot with some amazing photographers, including you. I am going to focus on some personal things that I want to work on and continue working on my fitness goals.
I want to come up with some new ideas and looks, so that I can come out with some new fresh looks with next years shoots.
CJC: What would be the best way for someone to contact you?
KD: I have way too many messages on Instagram so unless I follow someone, I don’t see the messages. If someone wants to reach me for something business related or something other than just trying to chat, the email option on my Instagram is the best way.
CJC: Any final thoughts you would like to share with the CJC Photography readers?
KD: I just want to say thank you for all of your support. I’ve been wanting to shoot with Christopher for a good while, and the success from our shoot has been amazing.
