Author Spotlight: Amy Davies

Edge by Amy Davies, Amy Davies author, Lewis Winyard model

CJC: How did you get started as an author and what made you want to pursue that field?

AD: I was always writing short stories in school, but never continued it after I left. I started my family young, so they took priority in my life. Then my husband told me to pick it back up again, and so I did. It took a while to get into the swing of things but I am glad that I did.

CJC: What do you find to be the most rewarding and challenging part of being an author and what hurdles have you overcome while striving towards your goals?

AD: Most rewarding, is hearing from readers when they tell me that my book helped them escape for a little while or made them feel a rollercoaster of emotions. My most challenging part was trying to not let bad reviews get to me, because everyone has a different view on things. I have overcome many hurdles but the most important one is not to make myself ill for a story, it will be ready when it is ready.

CJC: Which novel has been your favorite to write and why?

AD: It is actually my newest book that hasn’t been published yet. It is Zeb: Rugged Ink #1. It is the kickstart to the Rugged Skulls MC next generation series. I fell in love with my characters, they made it so fun to write. Their wit and banter.

CJC: For first time readers of your work, which book would you recommend?

AD: If they love MC, then I would say Unforgiven Riders MC, my first ever MC book, that is set in the UK. If they like contemporary romance, then I would say Dex: Castle Ink.

CJC: If one of your books were made into a movie, which would you select and who would you like to star in it?

AD: I have always said I would love my Phoenix Boys series to be turned into three movies and Mathew Diddario to play the Phoenix triplets.

CJC: For those looking to become an author, what advice would you give them?

AD: Trust in yourself. Do not let people control your book, it is your baby, you say what goes in there. Also, remember to breathe, not everyone will like it but that is okay. Not everyone likes fruit.

CJC: If you could co-write a book with any author, who would it be and why?

AD: Lila Rose. Her books are amazing, and are mixed with humor, banter and emotion. I love the mixture of every book she writes.

CJC: Favorite motto?

AD: You live, what you learn.

CJC: What do you do to overcome writer’s block?

AD: Read. I know some authors find this difficult but it helps clear my head. Another author’s words help me forget about mine, so when I go back to my own manuscript, my mind is clear to start again.

CJC: In one word, how would you describe your writing style?

AD: Easy

CJC: Which do you find harder to do… writing the blurb for your story or selecting the cover?

AD: BLURB!!! They are the Devil’s B!tch, lol. I could look for covers all day.

CJC: Which author inspires you the most and why?

AD: There are too many to name. Each brings their own unique style that I love and it pushes me to better myself.

CJC: What is your writing process like?

AD: Messy, lol. I am always writing notes, after I set out a baseline for each chapter. I confuse myself sometimes.

CJC: What new projects are you currently working on and what are your goals for the remainder of the year?

AD: I am currently finishing the Rugged Ink #1. I also have a collaboration book to finish and two anthology pieces.

CJC: Any final thoughts you would like to share with the CJC Photography readers?

AD: Be yourself. Read the words, love the words and spread the words.

CJC: Amy thank you so much for featuring Lewis and I on Edge: Rugged Skulls MC #6. It is now available to purchase here.
