Author Spotlight: C.M. Steele

Caught by C.M. Steele, romance novel, BT Urruela, Rachael Baltes, CJC Photography, Boston photographer, book cover photographer, romance book cover photographer1)      How did you get started as an author and what made you want to pursue that field?
After a company merger I was going to lose my position in a year, so I had to make some life changes. Having written several partial stories but never published, I looked into it and just let it happen.
2)      What hurdles have your overcome while striving towards your goals?
I’ve had to develop a thick skin when coping with criticism and shaking the self-doubt.
3)      Which novel has been your favorite to write and why?
If I had to pick one it would be Always You because I put real emotions in there that made people feel more than passion.
4)      For those looking to become an author, what advice would you give them?
Learn to deal with your critics and never be afraid of admitting you’re not perfect.
5)      Favorite motto?
Remember there’s always someone who has it worse than you, so hang in there.
6)      In one word, how would you describe your writing style?
Eclectic.
7)      Which author inspires you the most and why?
Hmmm. That’s a tough one. But I would have to go with the great Jane Austen. She changed romance for all of us and created the best male character of all time that has inspired the heroes of so many romance novels.
8)      What is your writing process like?
I just write and write and write until it’s done.
9)      Goals for the remainder of the year?
I have a goal to publish at least 3 novellas and two novels.
10)   What new projects are you currently working on?
My next book is called His Dirty Secret which is about falling for the best friend’s daughter. After that, I planned to do the last installment of the Caught series called Caught Breaking the Law.
11)   Any final thoughts you would like to share with the CJC Photography readers?
No matter what you do in life let it be something you love. There were things I was good at, but nothing I loved doing until I started writing as a career. Even with the struggles, I love it. Thanks for reading!
