Author Spotlight: Brie Paisley

Carter by Brie Paisley, CJC Photography, Boston photographer, book cover photographer, romance book cover photographer, BT Urruela, Taylor Urruela,1) How did you get started as an author and what made you want to pursue that field?
My love for books and reading started when I was very young. I don’t remember how I fell in love with books, but when I look back it was always just there. There wasn’t a time I wasn’t reading or writing in my journals. Writing has always been that one dream I’d never thought I would actually pursue. I thought it was a pipe dream. But one day an idea started and I told myself, why not now? Never in my wildest dreams
did I think I would publish or still be doing what I love. It’s just a passion I was born with and I never want it to stop.
2) What hurdles have your overcome while striving towards your goals?
I consider myself lucky with this one. I haven’t really had any bad experiences or anything that stops me from writing. I have a great support system, great people behind me, and one day if I have a problem I know they’ll be behind me every step of the way.
3) Which novel has been your favorite to write and why?
This one is hard to answer (lol) just because I love everything I write. But if I’m forced to pick just one it would be my newest release, Carter. Carter is very close to my heart because it’s basically my life. It’s based in my hometown, the character Carter is inspired by my wonderful husband, and a lot of what happens in Carter happened in real life. It’s probably the closest I can write without it being a biography (lol).
4) For those looking to become an author, what advice would you give them?
I would first tell them to not let anyone stop them from reaching their goals, dreams, and just go for it. You’ll never know if you don’t try. Mostly to be patient because writing may seem easy, but it’s not. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication. Do it for yourself and not for anyone else.
5) In one word, how would you describe your writing style?
Unique.
6) What is your writing process like?
I really don’t have a process so to speak. I mainly feel the urge to write and I get in my regular writing spot with my iPod and let the words flow. Sometimes it works better than the others. I do have a set schedule now when I should write so I can stay on track better.
7) Goals for the remainder of the year?
Goal for the rest of the year is to get the last book to the Worshipped Series out. I would also like to have another book finished and ready to release at the beginning of next year.
8) What new projects are you currently working on?
I actually have a lot of projects going on. It’s getting a bit out of hand lol. My main focus right now is getting Book 3 of the Worshipped Series out by the end of December. I’m also working on Addiction (this book goes along with Temptation and will also be a standalone), Caden (The Harlow Brothers: Book Two), and something new that I haven’t announced just yet.
10) Any final thoughts you would like to share with the CJC Photography readers?
I’m truly blessed to have such amazing followers. I honestly cannot express how awesome it is to see how many people want to read the books I write. When I started writing, I had no idea I would be where I am today. I know this author life will only continue to grow and I cannot wait to see what the future holds.
