Model Spotlight: Kevin Cooley

I grew up in Northborough, MA and I went to college in NH graduating from Plymouth State College in 1999 with a degree in Marketing which I do full time.  Oddly enough, I didn’t start modeling until my early 30’s and have been doing it part time ever since.  A couple years ago I signed with Maggie, Inc. in Boston and most recently did a shoot for Reebok. You can see me in the background on the Reebok website and in some retail stores.

1) What sets you apart from others in the modeling industry?
I don’t look my age (38). I can pass for 10 years younger easily. I’m extremely fit but not overly muscular and my body looks the same all the time.  I am never out of shape, so I am always ready for a shoot.

2) What first got you interested in fitness and modeling?
I had always been into sports and fitness since I was younger. Later in life I realized I could get paid to look the way I do and that’s when I took interest in modeling.

3) What hurdles have you overcome while striving towards your goals?
As far as modeling goes the biggest hurdle is I only do it part time because I have a career in Marketing.  It’s hard for me to find the time to go to castings. The industry is very competitive and there are a lot of people who model full time and it’s hard to compete with that sometimes.

4) For those looking to get in better shape, what advice would you give them?
1 hour is only 4% of the day.  You need to be committed and you need to define your goals and then achieve them. For me working out is a lifestyle, it’s something that will always be a part of my life and it’s fun for me. Seeing results and hitting your goals should be motivation enough to get in better shape and stay in shape.

5) Favorite motto?
“Don’t let what you did yesterday be your greatest moment.”

6) In one word, how would you describe yourself?
Different.

7) Who inspires you in the modeling industry?
Photographers inspire me and I’ve worked with some amazing ones who deserve a lot of credit for my success. Cory Stierley, Hilda Yulfo, Leonardo Tillett and Nicoletta Francesca to name a few.

8) What can’t you live without?
Family & Friends.

9) Goals for the remainder of 2013?
I’d like to secure another major client modeling gig like the ad I did for Reebok.
