CJC Photography’s Top Moments of 2020!

CJC Photography’s Top Moments of 2020!

At the end of each year I like to reflect on the highs and lows and to create a goal list for the following year.

With this year being one of the most difficult for most, myself included, I had contemplated not making this post. However, I think its important to still celebrate the positive moments whether big or small.

I especially want to say a special THANK YOU… to all of you! All of your love and constant support has meant so much and truly helped get me through this year. I’m very much a stay busy and keep my mind busy type of person in order to stay uplifted. Work this year slowed in a multitude of ways, most of which was in regards to travel/shooting. Staying and being creative was something I still strived and managed to do.

With that being said, here are some of my Top Moments of 2020!

My Best Friend Got Married!

All things considered, Nick + Alli had the perfect day and we were able to celebrate with our immediate families in October. I even had the opportunity to photograph them in our hometown (which you can see more of here).

The CJC Girls!

With the help of the amazing Tiffany Black of T.E. Black Designs the creation of my logo for The CJC Girls came to be. I’m absolutely in love with the end result and I use it for all the solo female images I post on my website here. I always called the female models I work with part of “The CJC Girls” and seeing it come to life truly made me smile.

Magazine Features

Seeing my work in print whether on a book cover or in a magazine always feels so rewarding.
Getting the chance to work with such a talented group of models is also the icing on the cake.
This year my work was featured in 14 publications all of which are featured on my blog here.
These editorials ranged from fashion to fitness/swimwear.
My blog is actually one of my favorite features on my website, in particular my author spotlights where readers can get a closer look into authors lives.

My First Book Cover Published in another Language!

Liberdade Perdida by Lexi C. Foss is now available here! I never fathomed seeing my work on projects published in another language and WOW was this ever a huge milestone for me.
Coming from a Portuguese background, this especially meant so much to my family and I.

Liberdade Perdida by Lexi C. Foss, Lexi C. Foss best selling author, Lexi C. Foss blood alliance series, CJC Photography book cover photographer, book cover photographer

Featured on Sierra Hill’s YouTube Channel!

Sierra Hill interviewed me for her YouTube channel and I had so much fun! We talked about a wide range of topics such as how I got started in photography/the book cover business, the photo shoot process, and more. You can watch the full interview here.

Charity Anthology Project

Each year I try to donate at least one photo to a project where proceeds benefit a charity and this year I worked on E.V.I.E.: 13 Slayers, 13 Missions by:  Amelia Hutchins, Anna Edwards, C.R. Jane, Claire Marta, Dee Garcia, Elle Christensen, K. Webster, Kimbra Swain, Lexi C. Foss, Lily Archer, Mila Young, Rochelle Paige, and Sandra R. Neely. Jackie was featured on the cover and 100% of the proceeds were donated to the Best Friends Animal Society. Copies of E.V.I.E. are available here.

Exploring Nature

One of my absolute favorite past times is exploring parks/outdoor recreational areas. With everything that has been going on this year, 2020 was the perfect time to do just that.

One of my favorite locations was Rutland Prison Camp which I visited while I was in Massachusetts where I shot Chris Nogiec. This location was even named one of The Top Abandoned Places to Visit. I wrote a dedicated article to showcase a behind the scenes look from our shoot here.

Another noteworthy location included my first time shooting at a sunflower field (I wouldn’t recommend doing that during Summer in Florida LOL) which was with Jackie and Kristen. Thankfully I brought a fan which really helped us keep cool in between shots.
Alli and I went to an apple orchard that we photographed at as well.

TikTok

I initially joined TikTok as a form of distraction.
The people that post videos on there are so creative and I found myself smiling and laughing at the content I saw. That was back in May.
Fast forward to the present and I’ve been posting daily and reached over 13k followers thus far.
For those looking to smile and laugh or looking for a creative outlet, I highly recommend it. It’s also one of the best platforms to grow a following that can be translated amongst other social platforms, especially Instagram/YouTube.

What’s Next?

I used to plan and think so far ahead.

But now… I like to take things one day at a time and not focus more than a week or so in advance. My hope and prayer is that next year… things can and will get better.

A special thank you to all the authors, designers, models, bloggers, and readers who have supported me over the year. It really means so much and for that I do feel blessed and grateful.

I hope everyone has a safe and healthy New Year!
