Author Spotlight: Lumi Daoi

CJC Photography, Unforgetable by Lumi Daoi, Derek Pratt, Derek Pratt model, Boston photographer, Florida photographer, book cover photographer, romance book cover photographer1) How did you get started as an author and what made you want to pursue that field?

I have been writing on and off since my high school years, including the bathroom walls and desks. Wherever there was a surface I was writing on it. Then combine that with my love of reading and it was a match made in heaven to just write and let the public read my work. All whilst being petrified at what the readers would say about my work.

2) What hurdles have your overcome while striving towards your goals?

Self doubt has been a huge issue for me, I am my own worst enemy as it’s the same with most authors.

3) Which novel has been your favorite to write and why?

They have all been fun to write, but always your first is the most special. So Unforgettable, but that may have to do with all my male leads showing off their mannerisms.

4) For those looking to become an author, what advice would you give them?

If you want to be a author, then hell give it a shot. Just write and do it for the love of writing. Try not to stress over everything, have faith in yourself. The Author community is one of the best places to be, we all support each other and someone will be there to help you when you need it. All you have to do is ask.

5) Favorite motto?

It is what it is.

6) In one word, how would you describe your writing style?

I’m not sure what I would say…rubbish? (Some author I am right haha).

7) Which author inspires you the most and why?

Every author I read inspires me in different ways, with the way they bring you into the story. I only wish to even have the smallest hint to do that to my audience. I’m in awe of them all, their creativity bows me away every time.

8) What is your writing process like?

I’m usually driving when I get an idea for a new story, so it’s quickly grab my phone and record the idea as my brain is like a sieve. Then I’d write a general idea of what is happening or going to happen,  plan general chapters. I drink lots of coffee and type away and see what comes out, usually I can get through the first 5 chapters before I have to write the ending as it will just come to me. Writing the blurb though, I hate with a passion…I don’t seem to be able to get that right at all, trying to summarize your story in a paragraph that gives enough away to entice your audience is hard work, and usually takes a few attempts.

9) Goals for the remainder of the year?

I hope to have Unforgettable released before this year is out, and possible Goodbye which is my Nanowrimo project this year.

10) What new projects are you currently working on?

Currently I am working on Goodbye, Unexpected and Welcome to Hell….three different stories from three genre’s all screaming to be told. So usually it’s bits of chapters from each one, whomever is talking to me the most.

11) Any final thoughts you would like to share with the CJC Photography readers?

I just want to say thank you, although they don’t feel strong enough to show my gratitude to how thankful I am at being able to do something I love. Writing isn’t my job, it’s a passion and one I hope I never lose. I am one for following your dreams, never give up just follow your heart and you’ll get to where you’re supposed to be.
